Days 14&15 - Bent Creek and Prairie Schooler

Time for two last Crazy January starts. I am really glad the craziness is over and the first part of the challenge is complete. Now I only have to finish them before year end LOL

For day 14 I started Bent Creek 'So Happy' chart. I just stitched a tiny little bit on the bottom, if you look at it from further away you might miss it but it still counts as a start :)

Czas na dwa ostatnie starty z Crazy January Challenge. Cieszę się, że szaleństwo już za mną i pierwsza część wyzwania skończona. Teraz tylko trzeba te hafty do końca roku dokończyć :)

Dzień 14 minął planowo, zaczęłam 'So Happy' Bent Creek. Start raczej symboliczny, bo krzyżyków jest tak niewiele, że w daleka można je przegapić :)

On day 15 I was supposed to start Toil and Trouble by Plum Street Samplers. I did order the linen and threads at the beginning of December and they are still not here. I had to choose something else for my last Crazy day and I picked a chart from Prairie Schooler's Garden Verses. Again, did not get much done, but hopefully I will stitch a bit more on this over the weekend. The last picture is of all Garden Verses charts, I have finished the chart in the middle and the one I am stitching now is the one on the right.

W ostatnim dniu miałam zacząć schemat Toil and Trouble. Niestety zamówione na początku grudnia materiały nadal nie dotarły i trzeba było wybrać coś innego. Tym razem padło na jeden ze schematów z 'Garden Verses' Prairie Schooler. Początek nie jest zbyt oszałamiający, ale mam nadzieję, że po weekendzie będzie wyglądać już przyzwoicie. Ostatnie zdjęcie to wszystkie schematy Garden Verses, ten środkowy już skończyłam, teraz zaczęłam ten po prawej.

Day 13 - Filigram - Blackberry Plant

Time for my tiny start from day 13 - this is Blackberry Plant by Filigram. I am using the floss pack and happy to report that this time not only all the threads are there but also there is one additional color :)

Czas na start 13 - Borówka :) Używam zestawu nici jedwabnych Dinky Dyes i ku mojemu zaskoczeniu znalazł się w nim nawet jeden dodatkowy kolor.

And here's my after - I had all these lovely silks and only managed to get done that much. It looks like the world's longest caterpillar :) Can't wait till the next weekend...

Day 12 - Victoria Sampler - Winter Robin

Today was a good stitching day. I started Winter Robin by Victoria Sampler. I am using 32ct Dirty Linen and the Accesory Pack which contains all threads. Or at least it was supposed to...

Here's my before pic:

Dziś zaczęłam schemat Winter Robin i jestem bardzo zadowolona  z postępów. Używam lnu w odcieniu Dirty o gęstości 32ct i zestawu, który zawiera wszystkie nici. Przynajmniej miał zawierać, bo jak się okazało było nieco inaczej.

After a couple hours of stitching I got to the area which is the birds belly and it was supposed to be yellowish. On my stitching it was coming out in a color which was barely visible against the fabric and there was barely any yellow showing though - now the pictures of the chart cover and my stitching:

Po paru godzinach doszłam do brzuszka ptaszka, który według schematu miał być w odcieniu żółtym, a na moim hafcie kolor zlewał się zupełnie z kolorem materiału a odcień był raczej kremowo szary niż żółty- poniżej zdjęcia mojego haftu i zbliżenie na okładkę schematu:

Something was obviously wrong. I checked the chart for the floss colors and the colors to be used were Gentle Art Flax and Summer Meadow. I went though my hand dyed floss box and luckily I had a skein of Summer Meadow. The thread color in the pack was completely different. Here's how it looks - on the top the actual Summer Meadow, next Flax from the accessory pack and on the bottom the Summer Meadow from the pack:

Coś było ewidentnie nie tak. Sprawdziłam kolory na schemacie i nici, których powinnam używać to połaczenie dwóch odcien muliny Gentle Art - Flax i Summer Meadow. W pudełeczku z muliną farbowana szczęśliwie znalazłąm cały motek Summer Meadow i okazało się, że odcień jest zupełnie inny niż to, co było załączone w zestawie.

I frogged all the stitches and redid them using my Summer Meadow and on the final pic you can see that after changing the floss the bird's belly is yellow as it should be now :)  I will definitely think twice before getting another Victoria Sampler accessory pack.

Wyprułam cały ten kawałek i poprawiłam używając Flax z zestawu i swojego Summer Meadow. Efekt jest dużo lepszy jak widać na zdjęciu, brzuszek przestał zlewać się z materiałem :) Myślę, że w przyszłości raczej samodzielnie kupię potrzebne muliny niż zdecyduję się na zestaw Victoria Sampler.

Days 9,10 and 11 - Dimensions, Lizzie Kate and Faby Reilly

Time for some catching up on the Crazy January Challenge. I moved some projects around to start smaller ones on the weekdays and changed one already and most probably will have to change another one.
My Thursday start was a cat ornament from Dimensions book 'Holiday Whimsies'. I chose this one because the cat looks similar to my cat Stefan.

Czas na zaległe wpisy o Crazy January Challenge. Zamieniłam kolejność prac, tak aby większe zostawić na weekend, jeden wzór zmieniłam na inny i najprawdopodobniej będę zmieniać jeszcze jeden. W czwartek zaczęłam wzór z książeczki Dimensions "Holiday Whimsies'. Wybrałam go, ponieważ przypomina mi mojego kota Stefana.

On Friday I started the 'Dear Santa' ornament from Tiny Tidings XV.The highest count I used before is 36ct and this time I have decided to try 40ct. It's going pretty well, the tiny stitches are so cute.

W piątek zaczęłam wzór 'Dear Santa', po skończeniu zrobię z niego ozdobę choinkową. Używam lnu o gęstości 40 ct, wcześniej używałam najwyżej 36ct. Idzie całkiem nieźle i bardzo podobają mi się te malutkie krzyżyki.

Today I was going to start Narcisse d'Arezzo by Marie-Therese Saint-Aubin . This is a free pattern from Casa Cenina. I do have some problems with the chart, it is in color with no symbols and it is difficult for me to tell colors apart. I think I will leave this one for summer when I can look at the chart in daylight. After some thinking I decided that my today's start will be Poinsettia Star by Faby Reilly. I hope to have in on my Christmas tree next year when it will look like this:

Dziś miałam zaczynać Narcisse d'Arezzo by Marie-Therese Saint-Aubi. Ten wzór można dostać jako gratis zamawiając z Casa Cenina. Jednak jest pewien problem ze wzorem - jest oznaczony kolorami, nie ma symboli i jest mi dość ciężko je rozróżnić. Postanowiłam zostawić sobie ten wzór na inną lokację, najlepiej na lato, w świetle dziennym powinno być zdecydowanie lepiej. Z zastępstwie zdecydowałam się zacząć 'Poinsettia Star' Faby Reilly. Mam nadzieję, że w przyszłym roku na mojej choince będzie wyglądać tak:

Day 8 - Isabelle Vautier - Rue du Port

Yesterday I started Rue du Port as planned. Did not manage to stitch much and I think I will be switching order of charts for smaller starts today and tomorrow and then bigger ones for the weekend. Next year I will organize this a little bit better.

Wczoraj zgodnie z planem udało mi się zacząć Rue du Port. Nie zrobiłam niestety zbyt wiele i zastanawiam się nad zmiana kolejności prac, tak aby prace mniejsze zacząć dziś i jutro, a te większe pozostawić na weekend. W przyszłym roku rozplanuję to nieco lepiej.

Day 7 - Dimensions - Happy Holiday

Getting close to the halfway mark of the challenge and it look like I will be able to make it :) Starting a new design every day is not as easy as I thought it would be. Yesterday I started a small Dimensions kit 'Happy Holiday'.  I really enjoyed stitching it and then suddenly I fell so very very sleepy... going back to work after a longer break is never easy LOL. So not as much stitching done as I wanted too but overall not so bad for one evening stitching. I would like to thank all the other Crazy January Challenge participants for their kind comments, it really motivates me to watch your progress, see all the wonderful designs that you chose and this is such a great opportunity to get to know new stitchers and their blogs :)

Już prawie połowa zabawy za mną, wydaje się, że uda m się wytrwać. Zaczynanie nowego haftu każdego dnia jest trudniejsze niż mi się wydawało. Wczoraj zaczęłam mały zestaw Dimensions Happy Holiday. Świetnie mi się haftowało gdy nagle zrobiłam się straszliwie śpiąca - powrót do pracy po długiej przerwie nie jest łatwy :) Nie udało mi się zrobić tyle, ile bym chciała, ale jak na jeden wieczór nie jest źle. Chciałam podziękować osobom, które też biorą udział w zabawie za miłe komentarze.

Day 6 - Crewel - Coleshill Collection - 401 Floral

Well, seems like yesterday was the stem stitch pracitice day. All the stem stitches are done now, not sure if you can see it in the picture, there are actually two rows, light green and dark green. This was much faster and less difficult than I expected. I'm really happy with the result.

Wczoraj ćwiczyłam haftowanie sznureczka. Poszło całkiem nieźle, wszystkie sznureczki zrobione. Nie jestem pewna, czy widać to na zdjęciu, są dwa rzędy sznureczka - jasno- i ciemnozielony. Poszło znacznie szybciej i łatwiej niż myślałam, czyli nie taki diabeł straszny jak go malują :)

Day 5 - Just Nan - Count LeScarrot

Yesterday I started Count LeScarrot. He stitches up really quickly, the front part is more than half done already. It definitely will be fun to stitch this little guy, though the finishing might be a challenge.

Wczoraj zaczęłam Count LeScarrot. Udało mi się zrobić ponad połowę przedniej części :) Mam nadzieję, że przy kończeniu pracy nie będzie problemów, ale to jeszcze znając mnie daleka droga :)

Stitched on 30ct Pumpkin WDW linen with DMC and WDW

Today is my last day off ( January 6th is National Holiday in Poland) so instead of starting the Dimensions kit, I will be stitching on the crewel kit. I have never tried crewel before so I am a bit nervous about it. I've opened the kit, the needle seems just giant to me - in the pic it is next to the one I usually use. Out of all the stitches mentioned in the instructions I have previously tried only one so this one will be a challenge.

Dziś ostatni dzień wolnego, zamieniłam kolejność prac i zamiast zestawu Dimensions będę pracować nad haftem wełnianym. Zestaw już rozpakowany, igła w porównaniu z tą, której używam zazwyczaj jest ogromna. W instrukcji jest 7 rodzajów ściegu, mam doświadczenie tylko z jednym. To moje pierwsze podejście do haftu wełnianego, mam nadzieję, że nie będzie problemów.

Day 4 - Nora Corbett - Donner

I really loved stitching this one, I think I will be back to it quickly. The linen is lovely grayish blue shade and the thread colors look great against it. You can already see the antlers, well at least parts of them :)

Świetnie haftowało mi się tą pracę, myślę, że wrócę do niej szybko. Len ma cudowny szaroniebieski kolor i bardzo podobają mi się na jego tle jasne kolory muliny.Udało mi się wczoraj wyhaftować sporą część rogów renifera

Day 3 - Dimensions - Smiley Snowman

Today just a quick picture of my yesteday's start. This is the Dimensions kit of Smiley Snowman. I almost managed to finish the snowflake. The fabric in background is Twilight Blue Permin linen I will be using for my Saturday's start.

Dziś tylko szybie zdjęcie mojego piątkowego projektu. Śnieżynka prawie skończona. W tle widać len, na którym będę dziś haftować.

After stitching the snowflake, looking at the floss colors and checking the kit cover again I am thinking I will finish the snowflake as a separate tiny ornament. I think they will look much better separate than together.

Patrząc na tą śnieżynkę, kolory muliny w zestawie i po przyglądnięciu się zdjęciu skończonego zestawu myślę, że nie będę jej łączyć z bałwankiem. Wydaje mi się, że dużo lepiej będą wyglądać osobno.

Day 2 - Mill Hill- Autumn Harvest Kit: Purple Pumpkin Eater

Stitching on perforated paper was not as challenging as I was afraid it would be. Not as much done as on  the previous day but still good for a week day. I made a mistake (was watching Rizzoli&Isles and got distracted a bit) and had to frog lots of the violet stitches to move the bird's body one stitch to the left. Couldn't have kept stitching with the mistake because as you can see I do not have any more performated paper space available on the right side. All fixed now but the time was enough just of one of the beaded legs..

Haft na papierze perforowanym okazał się być znacznie łatwiejszy niż się obawiałam. Efekt skromniejszy niż w dniu pierwszym, jednak niestety w czwartek trzeba było iść do pracy ;)  Haftując oglądałam serial, pomyliłam się i musiałam wypruć sporą część fioletowych krzyżyków. Zdążyłam poprawić to co było nie tak, ale niestety czasu wystarczyło tylko na koraliki na jednej nóżce..

Today I am starting the Dimensions kit. The threads are presorted, which I like a lot and there is a music module included :) I picked this kit as I think that the tassels on the snowman's scarf :)

Dziś zaczynam mały zestaw Dimensions. Mulina w zestawie był podzielona (duży plus) a to ustrojstwo w prawym dolnym rogu zdjęcia to mechanizm muzyczny.

Day 1 - Lizzie Kate - Christmas Rules

I've managed to stitch quite a lot a lot yesterday. It was my first time using WDW thread and I was suprised to find that it has a completely different feel to it than DMC. Each stitch has to be crossed individually so the back is really messy, at least compared to what I'm used to. I am happy with what I managed to get done.

Jestem zadowolona z postępów prac :) Pierwszy raz haftowałam muliną WDW i byłam zdziwiona tym jak bardzo różni się od DMC. Jest bardziej sztywna i wydaje się jakby szorstka. Każdy krzyżyk powinien być robiony osobno, więc tył haftu jak nie prezentuje się najlepiej.

Today I will be starting the Mill Hill kit.  I come home from work usually around 8pm so I plan to post pics of my stitching on the next day. I took some pictures of the kit 'insides', it is stitched on perforated paper (first time for me) and I really hope at least half of the beads are spares, otherwise I'm in trouble :)

Dziś zaczynam mały zestaw Mill Hill. Zwykle wracam z pracy późnym wieczorem, więc zdjęcia będę wrzucać z jednodniowym opóźnieniem. Haft będzie wykonany na perforowanym papierze (nigdy wcześniej na nim nie haftowałam). Mam nadzieję, że chociaż część koralików jest zapasowa, zdecydowanie nie spodziewałam się aż tak wielu.

Crazy January Challenge 2014

Happy New Year Everyone:) I've decided to blog again and my motivation is the Crazy January Challenge. I've wanted to participate for a long time however past few years when I remembered about it it was already January so this year I've started my planning early. All chosen charts and kits have already arrived and I'm only waiting for some fabrics and threads. I've tried to pick small/medium sized projects to actually have a chance of finishing all of them in 2014. Not all of them are cross stitch as I am planning to also learn something new - this is my New Year resolution.

 Szczęśliwego Nowego Roku :) Od kilku lat chciałam wziąć udział w zabawie Crazy January Challenge. Polega ona na rozpoczynaniu nowych projektów w ciągu pierwszych dwóch tygodni Nowego Roku. Zawsze niestety przypominałam sobie o niej zbyt późno, tym razem jednak udało mi się wszystko zaplanować. Przy okazji dokumentowania projektu odświeżę trochę bloga, bo bardzo dawno mnie tu nie było. Nie wszystkie projekty to haft krzyżykowy - moim noworocznym postanowieniem jest nauczenie się nowych technik :)
