Theme-a-licous and Donner update

For Theme-a-licious in January I should work on something with flowers or garden. I checked my WIPs and it turns out I only a few WIPs that meet the criteria. I picked two to work on - Blackberry Plant and Mini Mandala Mystery. Both are rather gardens than flowers but I think they still work :)

I worked on Blackberry Plant during the weekend and I am pleased with the progress. All I had before was the border on the top so I managed to get quite a lot done. My plan is to stitch on the Mini Mandala Mystery now.

W Theme-a-licious, zabawie do której się zapisałam, styczeń jest miesiącem, w którym mamy wyszywać hafty, na których są kwiaty lub ogrody. Przejrzałam moje WIPy i okazało się, że prac z kwiatami w nich lekki niedostatek. Zdecydowałam. że skupię się teraz na dwóch - Blackberry Plant i Mini Mandala Mystery. 

Z weekend wyszywałam Blackberry Plant i jestem zadowolona z tego,  ile udało mi się zrobić. Jedyne co było zrobione wcześniej to wzorek na górze, więc różnica jest łatwa do zauważenia :) Teraz planuję zająć się Mini Mandala Mystery.

 I managed also to get a bit done on Donner, he now has all four legs :)

Mój renifer ma już wszystkie cztery nogi :) 

IHSW for January - Nora Corbett and Prairie Schooler

Last weekend I was hermitting and stitching for the IHSW. You can read about it on Joysze blog here.
I focused on two of my January starts,  Garden Verses as in its previous state it was hard to even call it a WIP and Donner because stitching on this linen is pure joy. Most of my other projets are stiched on Zweigart linen and using Permin is an interesting change.

Ten weekend był weekendem IHSW czyli w wolnym tłumaczeniu Weekendu Samotnego Wyszywania. O zasadach można poczytać u Joysze tutaj. Skupiłam się na moich startach styczniowych: Garden Verses, ponieważ jak widać po zdjęciu przed ciężko to było nawet WIPem nazwać oraz Donner, bo świetnie wyszywało mi się na lnie Permin. Większość moich prac haftuję na lnie Zweigart i muszę przyznać, że to bardzo przyjemna odmiana.

I will be also joining Theme-a-licious for 2014. This is something I have also wanted to do for a few years now, mostly because of what is planned for March :) Theme-a-licious is monthly stitching themes, for January it is flowers. As I was doing the Crazy January Challenge there is not much time for flowers this month so I will have to give my WIPs another look to find something that has them and work on it next weekend. Every other month this year the theme is a mystery, however for March it is what it was before - Crazy March - meaning you should work on something different each day. This will be fun! Also November looks really challenging this year, not sure about previous years as it was usually March that made me think 'why haven't I joined this?' The posting for this is in the beginning of following month so with IHSW, Turtle Trot and WIPocalypse this is 4 posts per month minimum which should also be good for getting on track with my blogging this year!

W tym roku planuję też Theme-a-licious. To zabawa, o której myślałam już od dawna, głównie z powodu zadań na marzec. Theme-a-licious to zabawa organizowana przez Heather i polega na comiesięcznych motywach przewodnich, na styczeń to kwiaty, ale z związku z Crazy January Challenge czasu na kwiaty za bardzo już nie ma. Poszukam w zaczętych pracach, coś z kwiatami pewnie się znajdzie.  W tym roku tematy na miesiące parzyste są niespodzianką, ale na nieparzyste są znane i na marzec jest taki, jak w latach poprzednich czyli codziennie pracuj nad innym haftem. Nie mogę się doczekać, mam nadzieję, że dam radę. W sumie przyłaczyłam się do czterech zabaw- IHSW, Turtle Trot, WIPocalypse i Theme-a-licious, terminy są rozłożone w miarę równo w trakcie miesiąca, więc przy okazji ułatwi mi to regularne blogowanie :)

Days 14&15 - Bent Creek and Prairie Schooler

Time for two last Crazy January starts. I am really glad the craziness is over and the first part of the challenge is complete. Now I only have to finish them before year end LOL

For day 14 I started Bent Creek 'So Happy' chart. I just stitched a tiny little bit on the bottom, if you look at it from further away you might miss it but it still counts as a start :)

Czas na dwa ostatnie starty z Crazy January Challenge. Cieszę się, że szaleństwo już za mną i pierwsza część wyzwania skończona. Teraz tylko trzeba te hafty do końca roku dokończyć :)

Dzień 14 minął planowo, zaczęłam 'So Happy' Bent Creek. Start raczej symboliczny, bo krzyżyków jest tak niewiele, że w daleka można je przegapić :)

On day 15 I was supposed to start Toil and Trouble by Plum Street Samplers. I did order the linen and threads at the beginning of December and they are still not here. I had to choose something else for my last Crazy day and I picked a chart from Prairie Schooler's Garden Verses. Again, did not get much done, but hopefully I will stitch a bit more on this over the weekend. The last picture is of all Garden Verses charts, I have finished the chart in the middle and the one I am stitching now is the one on the right.

W ostatnim dniu miałam zacząć schemat Toil and Trouble. Niestety zamówione na początku grudnia materiały nadal nie dotarły i trzeba było wybrać coś innego. Tym razem padło na jeden ze schematów z 'Garden Verses' Prairie Schooler. Początek nie jest zbyt oszałamiający, ale mam nadzieję, że po weekendzie będzie wyglądać już przyzwoicie. Ostatnie zdjęcie to wszystkie schematy Garden Verses, ten środkowy już skończyłam, teraz zaczęłam ten po prawej.

WIPocalypse - January

In an attempt to actually finish something this year I joined the WIPocalypse. The details are on Measi's blog here. This year there are some optional discussion topics and this month it is to 'Introduce yourself, your projects, and any goals you have for the year'.

My name as you have probably guessed is Basia. I live in Krakow, Poland with my bf and our cat Stefan. I'm in my mid thirties now and most probably should update my Blogger profile LOL I work full time, I manage two different teams and even though I sometimes work really crazy hours I actually do like my job. I started cross stitching something like six years ago. I was really stressed and my mother said she always found stitching to be relaxing so I decided to give it a try. The funny thing is that my mom is not really a stitcher, the only time she stitched was when she was pregnant with me and my younger brother so I am a self-taught stitcher :) I also spend a lot of time reading and have a collection of plants like violets, streptocarpuses and hoyas, they are not easy to grow but the flowers make up for the difficulties.
My goals for this year are to finish the Crazy January Challenge designs and make good progress on some olders WIPs. I will put only three WIPs in WIPocalypse list and once they are finished replace them with new ones, this will make me feel like I am making  more progress and the length of the list will not bring me down LOL 


W ramach planu skończenia w tym roku większej ilości hafów niż w roku poprzednim przyłączyłam się do WIPocalypse. To zabawa organizowana przez Measi; wybiera się listę haftów i co miesiąc w trakcie pełni księżyca zamieszcza zdjęcia prac. Do zabawy można dołączyć w dowolnym momencie. Ja na swojej liście umieszczam prace, które chciałabym skończyć w tym roku. Oprócz tego w tym roku do zabawy są dodane tematy, które mają pomóc osobom biorącym w niej udział lepiej się poznać. Odpowiedzi nie są obowiązkowe, można zamieszczać tylko zdjęcia. W tym miesiącu jest to ' Przedstaw się, swoje hafty i plany na ten rok'.

Jak się zapewne domyślacie na imię mam Basia. Mieszkam w Krakowie z moim TZ i naszym kotem. Pracuję na cały etat, zarządzam dwoma zespołami i bardzo lubię moją pracę pomimo tego, że czasem spędzam w niej szaloną ilość godzin. Zaczęłam haftować jakieś sześć lat temu, mama zapewniała mnie że to świetny sposób na odstresowanie i postanowiłam spróbować. Haftu jednak uczyłam się sama; mama, która mi go poleciła, sama haftowała tylko kiedy była w ciąży ze mną i moim młodszym bratem :) Poza haftem dużo czasu zajmuje mi czytanie i moje rośliny. Mam sporą kolekcję fiołków, skrętników i hoi.

Plany na ten rok - skończyć to co zaczęłam, bynajmniej nie mam tu na myśli wszystkich moich WIPów, tylko te z Crazy January Challenge i postawić tyle krzyżyków na moich 'kolosach' (HAED), żeby było widać, że jest jakiś postęp.

This is one of Crazy January starts. I want to have more stitched ornaments so once this is finished I will replace it with another ornament.

Jeden z bieżących startów styczniowych. Chciałabym mieć więcej haftowanych ozdób, więc po skończeniu tej planuję ją zastąpić jakimś innym małym Świątecznym projektem :)

Day 13 - Filigram - Blackberry Plant

Time for my tiny start from day 13 - this is Blackberry Plant by Filigram. I am using the floss pack and happy to report that this time not only all the threads are there but also there is one additional color :)

Czas na start 13 - Borówka :) Używam zestawu nici jedwabnych Dinky Dyes i ku mojemu zaskoczeniu znalazł się w nim nawet jeden dodatkowy kolor.

And here's my after - I had all these lovely silks and only managed to get done that much. It looks like the world's longest caterpillar :) Can't wait till the next weekend...

Day 12 - Victoria Sampler - Winter Robin

Today was a good stitching day. I started Winter Robin by Victoria Sampler. I am using 32ct Dirty Linen and the Accesory Pack which contains all threads. Or at least it was supposed to...

Here's my before pic:

Dziś zaczęłam schemat Winter Robin i jestem bardzo zadowolona  z postępów. Używam lnu w odcieniu Dirty o gęstości 32ct i zestawu, który zawiera wszystkie nici. Przynajmniej miał zawierać, bo jak się okazało było nieco inaczej.

After a couple hours of stitching I got to the area which is the birds belly and it was supposed to be yellowish. On my stitching it was coming out in a color which was barely visible against the fabric and there was barely any yellow showing though - now the pictures of the chart cover and my stitching:

Po paru godzinach doszłam do brzuszka ptaszka, który według schematu miał być w odcieniu żółtym, a na moim hafcie kolor zlewał się zupełnie z kolorem materiału a odcień był raczej kremowo szary niż żółty- poniżej zdjęcia mojego haftu i zbliżenie na okładkę schematu:

Something was obviously wrong. I checked the chart for the floss colors and the colors to be used were Gentle Art Flax and Summer Meadow. I went though my hand dyed floss box and luckily I had a skein of Summer Meadow. The thread color in the pack was completely different. Here's how it looks - on the top the actual Summer Meadow, next Flax from the accessory pack and on the bottom the Summer Meadow from the pack:

Coś było ewidentnie nie tak. Sprawdziłam kolory na schemacie i nici, których powinnam używać to połaczenie dwóch odcien muliny Gentle Art - Flax i Summer Meadow. W pudełeczku z muliną farbowana szczęśliwie znalazłąm cały motek Summer Meadow i okazało się, że odcień jest zupełnie inny niż to, co było załączone w zestawie.

I frogged all the stitches and redid them using my Summer Meadow and on the final pic you can see that after changing the floss the bird's belly is yellow as it should be now :)  I will definitely think twice before getting another Victoria Sampler accessory pack.

Wyprułam cały ten kawałek i poprawiłam używając Flax z zestawu i swojego Summer Meadow. Efekt jest dużo lepszy jak widać na zdjęciu, brzuszek przestał zlewać się z materiałem :) Myślę, że w przyszłości raczej samodzielnie kupię potrzebne muliny niż zdecyduję się na zestaw Victoria Sampler.

Days 9,10 and 11 - Dimensions, Lizzie Kate and Faby Reilly

Time for some catching up on the Crazy January Challenge. I moved some projects around to start smaller ones on the weekdays and changed one already and most probably will have to change another one.
My Thursday start was a cat ornament from Dimensions book 'Holiday Whimsies'. I chose this one because the cat looks similar to my cat Stefan.

Czas na zaległe wpisy o Crazy January Challenge. Zamieniłam kolejność prac, tak aby większe zostawić na weekend, jeden wzór zmieniłam na inny i najprawdopodobniej będę zmieniać jeszcze jeden. W czwartek zaczęłam wzór z książeczki Dimensions "Holiday Whimsies'. Wybrałam go, ponieważ przypomina mi mojego kota Stefana.

On Friday I started the 'Dear Santa' ornament from Tiny Tidings XV.The highest count I used before is 36ct and this time I have decided to try 40ct. It's going pretty well, the tiny stitches are so cute.

W piątek zaczęłam wzór 'Dear Santa', po skończeniu zrobię z niego ozdobę choinkową. Używam lnu o gęstości 40 ct, wcześniej używałam najwyżej 36ct. Idzie całkiem nieźle i bardzo podobają mi się te malutkie krzyżyki.

Today I was going to start Narcisse d'Arezzo by Marie-Therese Saint-Aubin . This is a free pattern from Casa Cenina. I do have some problems with the chart, it is in color with no symbols and it is difficult for me to tell colors apart. I think I will leave this one for summer when I can look at the chart in daylight. After some thinking I decided that my today's start will be Poinsettia Star by Faby Reilly. I hope to have in on my Christmas tree next year when it will look like this:

Dziś miałam zaczynać Narcisse d'Arezzo by Marie-Therese Saint-Aubi. Ten wzór można dostać jako gratis zamawiając z Casa Cenina. Jednak jest pewien problem ze wzorem - jest oznaczony kolorami, nie ma symboli i jest mi dość ciężko je rozróżnić. Postanowiłam zostawić sobie ten wzór na inną lokację, najlepiej na lato, w świetle dziennym powinno być zdecydowanie lepiej. Z zastępstwie zdecydowałam się zacząć 'Poinsettia Star' Faby Reilly. Mam nadzieję, że w przyszłym roku na mojej choince będzie wyglądać tak:
